Re: Penny/Hibernation Update
Hi Lin, Nina Thank you, we are really proud of her, she has taken to it much better than us! It gives us much more confidence for the next one, and we just trust her and she leads the way. She was in there around 9 weeks, so again I think we will look to extend that slightly next year. I do hope thi...

Penny/Hibernation Update
Hello Nina, Lin & TT :) I am happy to let you know that we took Penny out of hibernation this week, and it's been another success! It didn't take long for her to start moving once we got her out of the fridge. She had a good long soak then spent the day basking, since we got her out she's eaten ...

Re: Hibernation update....
Hi Nina, sounds like your two are doing well also. It's been so cold this last week, and each time I've had a moan about being cold, I've felt so guilty knowing Penny is in the fridge even colder!

Hibernation update....
Hello Nina, Lin & everybody at TT :) As promised a little update on how Penny's hibernation is going. We have checked her and weighed her this morning, she was fast asleep with a little movement in her leg as we weighed her. She's weighing in this morning at 1393g and was 1398g when she went int...

Hibernation update and Merry Christmas
Hi everybody at TT. I wanted to give you a little update on how hibernation is going for Penny. She went into the fridge on 13 December (after being in the garage for a couple of days) and has settled down really well this year. We gave her a check and a weigh yesterday and all looking good. We've h...

Re: Wind down update
Hi Lin, Thanks for the reply. She has thrown our plans a bit this morning, as she has done a wee over night. We have been bathing her daily and she has been taking on water as we have seen her drink, and also we have weighed her before and after on some days. We are wondering do we cut down to every...

Wind down update
Hi Nina, Lin A little update on Penny's wind down for hibernation. We stopped feeding Penny on the 17th of November, so just going into week 3. She had a wee within the first couple of days of starting wind down but nothing since, and a small poo on the 27th. She has lost some weight, she was 1432g ...

Penny Update
Hi Nina, Lin (everybody at the TT) I wanted to say hello and give a little update on Penny as she's gearing up towards hibernation again. On the whole she has really slowed down over the last few weeks, she seems to alternate between having a quieter day where she is happy under her lamp not doing m...

Re: Penny
Hi Lin, all good thank you. Unfortunately it hasn't been the best start to summer, particularly as we are in the North East so always a bit cooler up here! I will keep in touch, you will no doubt hear from me when hibernation time comes round  Although too early at the moment, it's already in...

Penny
Morning Nina, Lin and TT. I just wanted to say hello from me and Penny, and share a couple of photos of her enjoying the sunshine we've been having recently. She is doing really well and is having a lovely summer, she is still as inquisitive as ever and loves exploring. She can also be very stubborn...

Sunny weather
Hello Nina/Lin, A little update on Penny. She is doing really well and she has been able to get some time in the garden recently, when there has been a sunny spot in the garden. Although she is never happy to come back in again :) I've attached a little picture of her enjoying some sun. She always m...

Re: Hibernation update....
Hi Lin, Nina, Thank you for the lovely replies. It is the strangest thing ever, from not feeding her during the wind down, to boxing her up and putting her in a fridge. I could have quite easily given in a few times but we knew it was what was best for Penny and what she needed to do. It really is a...

Hibernation update....
Morning Nina/everybody, I wanted to post a little update to let you know that after 8 weeks, we took Penny out of hibernation last weekend. I think its safe to say she passed her (and ours!) first one with flying colours. After taking her out of the fridge we heard movement within 10 minutes and wit...

Hibernation update....
Hello Nina/Everybody A little update, it's two weeks tomorrow since we put Penny in her hibernation box and a week today since she went into the fridge (it still seems so odd saying that!) Over the first 3 or 4 days we did hear some slight movement coming from the fridge (not much though and only fo...

Hibernation update....
Hello Nina/Everyone, We transferred Penny to the fridge earlier this morning. All limbs, and her head were visible, her eyes were shut and her leg moved slightly (which did reassure me!) We weighed her and she was the same weight as when she went in her box, and no signs of having had a wee either. ...

Re: Wind down update (and some questions)
Hi Nina, Thanks for your reply, its great to know we are on the right track. Sorry for any confusion, the fridge we have for Penny is in a spare bedroom and not the garage. It's been switched on for about a week now & has fluctuated between 4 & 5 degrees...we have 2 thermometers just incase,...

Wind down update (and some questions)
Hello Nina/everyone, A bit of a wind down update and a couple of questions I hope that you don't mind helping with. We are on day 21 of Penny's wind down. On November 13th, which was 3 days after we started she weighed 1381g, with fluctuations in between, today's reading is 1350g before her bath and...

Wind down update
Hello, Just a little update, we are now in week 2 of wind down. Penny is so sleepy now, we are putting her under the lamp at about 8.30 on a morning and she sleeps for a few hours and is then going to bed about 2 to 2.30, she seems to be leading the way and letting us know what she wants to do. We a...

Re: A couple of concerns
Hi Nina, That's a big relief to hear everything is sounding normal, thank you! We have printed out a copy of your wind down table & are reducing lights over the wind down period. We have a utility room next to our garage which we will put her in for the last few days, it does get cold (but never...

A couple of concerns
Hi Nina/Everybody, We've noticed that Penny doesn't seem to have had a poo for a couple of weeks now, she has had a wee regularly. We are also struggling to keep her under her lamp for any longer than about 3 hours max before she wants to go back in her hide. She last ate on Friday, and as planned w...
