Russian With Eye Problems

Post by Hoyt » 22 Oct 2024, 13:42

Hello,
We have 15 tortoises – Leopards, Greeks and Russians – that have been doing well with us for over 20 years; however, one of our Russians has developed a serious eye problem. His eyes are swollen and there are nodules or growths of some kind all around his eyes. I have been treating him with Terramycin and Ciprofloxacin, but neither seems to be helping. Does anyone know what this is, what may have caused it and is there anything else I should be doing to try and help him?
Thank you!
Steve

Hi Steve.
Could you send in a couple of photos face on but not as close, and the part that is circled in red. There seems to be quite a bit of puffiness going on that’s visible under the throat area and sides of the face making me wonder if it could be abscesses or it might be caused by this one being intimidated by others and stress is showing around the eyes.
Can you try separating him from the others for now until I see the photos.
