Hibernation update....

Hello Nina, Lin & everybody at TT :)

As promised a little update on how Penny's hibernation is going. We have checked her and weighed her this morning, she was fast asleep with a little movement in her leg as we weighed her. She's weighing in this morning at 1393g and was 1398g when she went into the fridge on 13 December.

We do hear some movements at times, but on the whole seems very settled. It's amazing how much you miss them while they are in hibernation, but we're really pleased with how well she is doing.

I hope hibernations for other tortoises on here are going well!

Thanks
Emma

Thanks for the update, Emma -- sounds like she is having a textbook perfect hibernation! My two went into the fridge on 27th November, and I last weighed them on 28 December (will probably weigh them again at the end of this week).
Doris went in at 661g and as of 28/12 she had lost 2g
Dolly went in at 911g and as of 28/12 she had lost 4g
so hopefully they won't have lost much more when I next weigh them.

Yes, it's amazing how much you miss them when they're tucked up in hibernation (and I miss the warm weather too). This morning it was 10.5C in my bedroom when I woke up, so I could have well been in hibernation myself!

Nina

Hi Nina, sounds like your two are doing well also. It's been so cold this last week, and each time I've had a moan about being cold, I've felt so guilty knowing Penny is in the fridge even colder! :(
