Joys of foraging!

Post by Stevievee » 26 Mar 2025, 07:26

So, spring has sprung and I had a lovely walk in the sun with my 2 essential companions. The 'Plant Planet' app to help me identify weeds through my phone camera and the 'Tortoise Table' app to check if the weeds are tortoise friendly! What a great reason to get outdoors in the sunny Yorkshire countryside.
Owning a tortoise isn't just having a pet. It's now a lifestyle. Although, people must have thought I was mad photographing the odd weed growing from walls, side of the river and at the edge of paths.
Boost of vitamin D and serotonin!! Bliss! :D

Isn't it wonderful to have sunshine! I've been out picking weeds too and it really lifts your spirits..
A good friend gave me a present several years ago that I think would be perfect for you -- it's a special carrier bag for picking weeds for tortoises. :D

Owning a tortoise isn’t just about having a pet — it’s a full-on lifestyle. Yes, I may have looked a bit odd snapping photos of weeds growing out of stone walls, riverbanks, and footpaths… but it was all in the name of tortoise nutrition and fun.
