Meeting the family

Thought I'd take the opportunity to take a picture of the hatchlings with the older tortoises in the sunshine
This picture was just for the purpose of a family photo, then I put them back in their enclosure.

oh, those babies look far to knowledgeable to be just hatchlings. The one angled against the stone basking is amazing.

When I put my hatchlings on the grass to take the photo. Which I've never done before with any hatchlings. I noticed they wanted to tuck right into the grass. I was shocked!
Although I know my older Iberas like to graze on the lawn, which is why I left them some in their enclosure.
I was wondering if I should set some grass seed in a seed tray with topsoil and let them graze on it. I've never done this with hatchlings before

What do you think? Is this ok to do? .

I don't keep Iberas, so I'm not sure but I can't see why not. A small patch of grass would provide a different texture for them to walk on and if they like nibbling it, it should be fine. I have Horsfields and for years they never paid any attention to grass, but last year and this year for some reason they love it.

LOL - They make up their own rules as they go.
I have an Ibera adult and she has always nibbled grass but only after eating the weeds and flowers.
As Nina suggests I think it would be a great idea to plant up a tray for them to add texture as well as a side order

Haha side order. Yes, I'll plant up a tray as a side order, it will be there if they want it..
