Wonderful news Stew. Thanks for letting us know and no need to delete but you can just unfollow I think.

Hi and thanks for posting, but I'm so sorry to hear that your circumstances mean that you are having to rehome your lovely tortoises. They are absolutely gorgeous and look so healthy, so you have obviously done really well by them. If there is no one else in your house who could help, and you will be out from 6 a.m. until late, then I do understand your problem. I hope that someone with experience and time comes up, and do ask to see their set-up etc. Let us know how you get on, and I wish you the best of luck in finding a really lovely home for them.

These are so adorable little shelled ones and so sad you have to rehome.
I will put them on our FB page and send applicants to this thread so that they can contact you with their details and you will get the chance to interview them yourselfe to make sure you fine the right potential future owners.

aww thank you for your kind comments! I've tried my best caring for them!
when I got them I was given wrong information by the pet shop and was told I could feed them on fruit and veg. Thankfully I found a page on Facebook called "tortoise addicts" and they were so helpful. they informed me that my torts needed a diet of fresh weeds and flowers. I wasn't prepared for this level of care and to make it worse my garden is paved with no weeds growing and so I spend about half an hour every day rooting through neighbours gardens looking for my tortoises breakfast. I also spend a lot of time on this site learning the different safe feeds.
when I begin my new job I will not be able to spend the time finding fresh weeds, and I have nobody who is able to do it for me. I'm worried sick that my tortoises will suffer and I cant have that happening.
hopefully someone can offer them a loving home! keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Hi,
How much are you selling these guys for? I have a hermann myself who is a year old. And thinking of adding an extra one or two to the family.

hi jade,
I am not selling my tortoises. they are free to a good home.

I would not recommend placing new tortoises in with your current one without a period of quarantine. You need to be sure none of them are carrying anything contagious which could result in serious problems.

thank you for your enquiry

Hi Stew,
Okay, and yes I know they have to go into quarantine. I wouldn’t want to risk any of them even if we think that they don’t have anything.

yeah its much better to be safe than sorry!

Id like to add, I have noticed the smaller of my torts has not been gaining weight as steadily as the larger tort. I believe their may be a case of bullying going on. the larger one likes to barge in during feeding :/
if you plan to have all torts together, do you have adequate space for them? and do you have access to lots of weeds? sorry if I sound like a worried mother but the welfare of my tortoise is really important to me.

My garden does have weeds in. And I have someone near me who has tortoises and picks lots of weeds up from a place as well. I have an extra table so if I was to have them they would go in there and have two bowls for food. Then the smaller one would get more food.

Looks like you have a few people interested Stew. Fngers crossed you find Mr or Mrs right to take over your wonderful care.
You can ask for pics of potential setups from indoors and outdoors, about diet and in fact you can ask anything you like, including if the rehomer will be willing to keep you updated.

all thanks to you Lin!

these torts really are like my babies, I need to know they'll be safe and cared for properly!
I'd hold interviews with questionnaires at the end!

cant be too picky though, as much as I love them, I need them in a new home asap to put my mind at ease.

Fingers crossed Stew, and good luck to the future new parents.
I'm sure you will soon have then where they will settle fast.
