Hello everyone in The Tortoise Table forum,
I have just started raising a Hermann tortoise that is about 6 months old and am struggling to find a suitable diet. I have consulted the list of plants and foods on The Tortoise Table, but am still unsure about the frequency and amount of food I should feed each day. In addition, there are some vegetables such as carrots, pumpkins and cabbage that I see mixed opinions on whether or not to feed. Can anyone with experience share with me the ideal diet for baby tortoises? Thank you very much!

Hi there! Congrats on your new little shelled friend
Every tortoise keeper starts with similar questions, so you're not alone!
For a 6-month-old Hermann, a variety of safe weeds and edible plants from The Tortoise Table list is best — things like dandelion, plantain, clover, etc. Most keepers suggest feeding once a day, just about what the tortoise can eat in 15–30 mins.
Carrots and pumpkin can be given very occasionally (treats only), and cabbage is generally avoided due to goitrogens.
You're doing great already by researching! Hopefully some long-time keepers here will chime in with their routines too.

Stick to safe weeds and greens like dandelion, plantain, and clover. Feed once daily, about the size of their shell. Carrots/pumpkin are fine occasionally, but avoid cabbage. Don’t forget calcium and UVB!
